Unhappy with your current accountant, or paying too much? Moving to us takes a few days, and we do almost all of the work.
How it works
1. Book a free call or sign up
Tell us about your business and what your current accountant does for you. We'll confirm a fixed monthly fee.
2. We contact your old accountant
Accountants follow a professional process called "professional clearance". We write to your previous accountant to ask whether there's anything we should know, and request the handover of your records โ last accounts, tax returns, payroll and VAT details.
You don't need to have an awkward conversation. A short email from you saying you're moving is enough; we handle the rest.
3. We get authorised with HMRC
We send HMRC a request to act as your agent, so we can see your tax records and deal with HMRC for you. You approve it with a code or a link.
4. We take over โ with no gaps
We check your upcoming deadlines first, so nothing is missed during the handover. Then you get access to your online portal and your dedicated accountant.
What you'll need
- Your name, address, date of birth and National Insurance number
- Your Unique Taxpayer Reference (UTR) and, for companies, the company number
- Your current accountant's contact details
- Photo ID โ we're required to check this by anti-money laundering law
Common questions
When can I switch? At any time of year. If a deadline is close, we'll agree with your old accountant who files it.
Will my old accountant charge me? Some charge for work already done. Check your engagement letter; they should not hold your records back to force payment of disputed fees.
Do I need new software? Not necessarily. We work with the main cloud accounting software and can move you if it helps.
