Companies House ID checks: directors must verify by November 2026
Every company director and person with significant control must verify their identity with Companies House. The transition period ends in November 2026.
Identity verification at Companies House started on 18 November 2025. Every director and person with significant control (PSC) must verify who they are.
Key dates
- New directors must verify before they are appointed
- Existing directors must verify by the time the company files its next confirmation statement, and the personal codes of every director are needed to file it
- The 12-month transition period ends in November 2026
If you don't verify
You won't be able to act as a director or file with Companies House until you are verified. Acting as a director while unverified is an offence and can lead to fines.
How to verify
You can verify online through GOV.UK One Login, or through an authorised agent (an authorised corporate service provider). Once verified, you receive a personal code to use for Companies House filings.
We can help
We can check your company's confirmation statement date, help every director verify in time and file the statement for you.
